NEWTOWN – The Goethe-Institut in collaboration with Museum Africa will showcase contemporary German music in an interactive multi-media exhibition.

To be held at Museum Africa, Musik + X will allow music lovers to hear, see, feel, read and discuss pop, hip hop, indie and techno music to their heart’s content.

Visitors will be able to listen to music at four listening stations, and information about the varied music genres will be available in English and German.

The institute’s Benjamin Keuffel said there would be a special programme on offer for pupils learning German as a foreign language at South African high schools. The programme will include a choice of various activities, such as an exhibition quiz with prizes, German films about music, and music and language workshops.

“For those who don’t know German, other supporting programme events like concerts and music workshops will give them plenty of opportunities to engage,” he said.

Musik + X will take place at Museum Africa, 121 Bree Street, Newtown, from 5 September until 17 November.
