KES cricketer makes SA U19

HOUGHTON – King Edward VII School celebrates cricket captain Bryce Parson's selection to the U19 South African team.

King Edward VII School matric learner and cricketer Bryce Parsons has been selected to represent the U19 South African team.

Parsons, who is also the captain of the school first cricket team, took part in the Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Week in Cape Town from 16 to 20 December last year. He represented the U19 Central Gauteng Team and was named the player of the tournament.

He said, “We played six games and won five. We were privileged to play the final against Western Province at Newlands in Cape Town and won.”

At the closing ceremony, Parsons was selected for the South African U19 team and will tour India from 16 February.

First-team coach at King Edwards VII School Pieter van Rooyen said, “I think this achievement is absolutely brilliant. In the last six months, he has put in a lot of effort into his skill and fitness. It’s fantastic to watch someone grow.”

Van Rooyen added, “He’s a brilliant captain. He’s a real thinker and truly understands the game of cricket.”
