KES crowned soccer champions

JOHANNESBURG – King Edwards VII School first soccer team was crowned champions at the St Peter's College soccer festival.

 

King Edwards VII school expressed pride in their first soccer team following their victory at the inaugural St Peter’s College soccer festival on 16 September.

They moved through the group stages with ease before beating Benoni High School 3–1 in the quarter-final and Sutherland High School in the semi-final 1–0.

In the final, KES came up against Norkem Park High and played to a 1–1 draw in regulation time. The match went to penalties which King Edwards won 4–2.

KES’ master in charge of soccer Ben Dunne said, “An incredible achievement from King Edwards VII School – St Peter’s College Festival winners 2018. These guys dug deep and found the desire and grit to win an extremely tough tournament. Thank you St Peter’s and to Norkem Park who, as always, are extremely tough opponents.”
