Parktown High girls selected to represent SA football team

PARKTOWN– Parktown High School for Girls' learner has been selected to represent U20 South African National Soccer team.

Two girls from Parktown High School for Girls have been selected to attend the U20 South African National Soccer team trials.

Shakeerah Jacobs and Francesca Dobrovolsky attended the open District Soccer trials and went through the knockout stages of the trials and eventually made it to the Gauteng team.

Shakeera was selected to represent the team while Francesca was selected to attend the trials. Parktown Girls‘ first team soccer coach, Cailin Whye said even though Francesca will only be attending, she feels like it is an achievement.

“Shakeerah and Frankie have worked exceptionally hard over the past two years. They both showed great determination, willingness to learn and value. They both have a great knowledge of the sport and used this to their advantage when they were playing. They have proven to be a huge addition to the team and we hope to see them further their skills in years to come.”

Parktown High School for Girls’ head of soccer, Karlyn Haus said the girls are much younger and for their school, it is such a privilege.

“It is great to see how learners who are passionate and have true love for the game have succeeded. Truly proud of them.”
