Famous soapie crews kick it out at Northview High

NORTHVIEW – Soapie stars and production members battle it out at high school

Crew members and a few actors from South Africa’s best TV soapies which include Rhythm City, Isibaya, Skeem Saam and Scandal took part in a football tournament held at Northview High School on 9 April.

According to Thabani Mkhize from Rhythm City and who is one of the organisers of this tournament among the famous soapies, the aim is to create an environment where they can interact with their counterparts and enjoy some time off since they are always at work on weekdays.

“When we first started, we had behind-the-scenes staff only, but actors have also joined in – the aim is to build a good relationship and keep healthy as we don’t often see each other,” said Mkhize.

The tournament is held once a month on a Saturday at Northview High. Mkhize also added that they hope that this initiative will continue to grow and more soapies join in.

“Everyone is welcome to join us, we are still going to extend our invitation to different companies but for now, Hillbrow FM has come to the party,” he said.

Mkhize said they want to encourage social cohesion among themselves and be able to communicate effectively with other people.
