KES sports festival set to be another success

HOUGHTON - The King Edward VII School Easter Festival is back and promises to be yet another great sporting spectacle.

The 2016 King Edward VII Easter Rugby Festival, sponsored by Standard Bank, will take place from 24 to 28 March.

The festival has a unique family flavour and is considered to be an annual pilgrimage for multitudes of past pupils and friends of the school.

Senior rugby and hockey teams, as well as enthusiastic primary school teams, will showcase their sporting skills over a period of three days. A total of 40 teams will participate in the festival this year and will provide visitors and supporters with a feast of top-class sport.

“The KES festival was initially arranged as a once-off event, but its immense success saw it becoming an integral part of the school’s sports calendar. We have seen enormous growth over the years, with sponsorships being sought in the form of package deals, and individual advertising via wedges/boards around the field,” said festival organiser, Derron Eeden.

The number of teams participating in the event has increased from 12 to 14 teams.
