EASTER FESTIVAL: Viadana surprises Lions on day two

HOUGHTON - The second day of the St John’s College Easter Rugby Festival provided some mouth-watering clashes, which saw the very best in school rugby battle it out.

The fans and parents came out in their numbers and were treated to wonderful and entertaining rugby, the festival welcomed Viadana a team from Italy who were participating for the first time.

Viadana were the surprise package of the day, after being thrashed by Paul Roos (94 – 0) on the first day, they came back strongly and earned a hard fought victory over the Lions Presidential XV.  St John’s College provided a below par performance as they were thumped by Hilton College.

St John’s pupils were on top of their voices as their team took to the field for  the fourth game of the day, but they were let down by their team’s poor defence and lack of awareness in crucial stages of the game.
