Dunkeld Bowls Club members face off in the Tower Novices semi-finals

DUNKELD – One of the players will be in the final.

Two members of the Dunkeld Bowls Club have reached the semi-finals of the Tower Novices bowls tournament.

Unfortunately, Ajeet Singh and Craigh Erasmus will face off in the one semi-final since they were both in the same half of the draw. The semi-final match will take place on March 12 at the Wanderers Club, beginning at 08:30.

Singh and Erasmus have made their club proud and according to John Hofmeyr of the club, to achieve this feat with only 20 passionate bowls players is remarkable.

This is not a first for the small club. In 2014, the Rosebank Killarney Gazette reported that members George Mackeurtan and Pam van Wyk won the men’s and women’s sections of the tournament respectively.

“From a starting field of over 120 men bowlers, two of the last four players are from Dunkeld Bowls Club – the little club that often punches above its weight,” said Hofmeyr.

Only one of them will be in the final, but that’s the luck of the draw.
