IQ Football adjusts to new normal

CRAIGHALL – The group has also been posting free skills videos on its YouTube channel regularly.

IQ Football will not be opening under the new lockdown Level 3 regulations but it is keeping the ball rolling.

Coach Sean Szabo said he is missing having training together and looks forward to seeing the young soccer players again. But until then, the Craighall Park-based soccer outfit will keep in touch with players in other ways. “We’ve been operating sessions on Zoom which has worked well, but we’re looking forward to seeing the kids again in a more social setting as they massively benefit from the social interaction and live format,” he told Rosebank Killarney Gazette.

“When we open again, we will be taking all possible safety measures to ensure that the safety of players is our number-one priority.”

Szabo said this will include the following steps:

  • Players and the coach will wash or sanitise their hands before and after lessons.
  • Everyone must wear a face mask
  • Everyone must maintain social distancing
  • There must be no shaking of hands or high-fives
  • Temperatures need to be checked at home before lessons.

“We have had a lot of feedback that the kids are finding the mental adjustment to the current times challenging, and we are looking forward to being a part of the solution to this in a safe, controlled, and enjoyable environment.”Szabo encouraged anyone interested in finding out how IQ Football can help their children overcome mental and physical challenges that have arisen during the lockdown, to contact them.
