Fans encouraged to train at home: Cricket becomes mini’er

ILLOVO – Cricket enthusiasts are encouraged to show their creativity and share their KFC Mini'er Cricket moments on social media and tag @KFCSA and using #minicricket to stand a chance to win KFC Mini-Cricket hampers.

Proteas cricketers have been training at home to encourage fans to do the same.

This part of the KFC Mini’er Cricket campaign, which sees international players and their youngest fans alike trade the cricket pitch for stoeps and passages at home. Even traditional cricket gear has been substituted when necessary. In one video on Twitter, Josh Hendricks and his father, Proteas player Beuran Hendricks, play indoors using a rolling pin as the bat, socks as the ball, and a washing basket as the wicket.

“If the shot hits the lower cupboard, it’s a four,” Beauran explained in the video.”If the shot hits the upper cupboard, it’s a six.”

In another video on Twitter, Themba Bavuma hits a ball against a wall using a stump for a bat.”Let’s see your videos, try be creative, let’s have some fun,” the batsman said.

In a third video, Rassie van der Dussen uses a spatula as a bat, a tower of plastic cups as the wicket and a ball of socks as the ball.
