MyRun kicks off at Zoo Lake

PARKVIEW – The launch of the weekly MyRun at Zoo Lake was successful with more people invited to join.

Over 100 people attended the launch of MyRun at Zoo Lake in Parkview. Entrants had to register online for either a 2.5km or 5km run prior to the weekly event to encourage an active lifestyle. Participants who previously registered online received timing wristbands at a cost of R60 once-off upon arrival.

MMC for Community Development, Nonhlanhla Sifumba thanked everyone for availing themselves and encouraged everyone to explore Zoo Lake. “Today is about family, getting to know each other along the way and most of all to keep fit and be a healthy society.

“Congratulations to MyRun organisers and let’s do this every Sunday. Please do inform your friends that live around here and far. Some people haven’t been to Zoo Lake for more than 10 years so this is a good chance to explore Zoo Lake.”

Chairperson of the Rocky Road Runners Matodzi Tshidzumba encouraged all to do this as often as possible while they stretched before the run.

Clothier-Huberts said, “A special thanks to all the sponsors and partners who include Rocky Road Runners, the Zoo Lake Users Committee, City Parks and Zoo. Thank you also to the volunteers who helped set up and they are key to these events – so put your hand up every now and then to volunteer to be a part of these events.”
