FOREST TOWN – The popular event will see 8 000 runners hit the streets on 15 September.

Residents of Parkwood, Saxonwold and Forest Town should be aware of the Rockies Gerald Fox Memorial Race taking place on 15 September from the Johannesburg Zoo.

The 10km and 21.1km event begins at the corner of Upper Park Drive and Ettrick Road and finishes at the Johannesburg Zoo. Both these races are already sold out. These events both begin at 7am.

There are still entries available for the 5km event which begins at the Zoo Lake Sports Club at 7.10am and will finish at the Johannesburg Zoo.

Rockies have arranged a shuttle bus from the Zoo Lake Sports Club and Johannesburg Zoo to transport runners every 15 minutes.

“We have over 300 volunteers and will do everything in our power to ensure that illegal car guards don’t park cars on residents’ lawns and driveways.”

A portion of the race proceeds will be donated to the Johannesburg Zoo.

Discovery Vitality members will receive bonus points for completing the race.

“The entry collection for the 21.1km race and 10km race is at the main zoo entrance and the 5km fun run entry collections is at Moyo Zoo Lake from Friday 13 September to Saturday 14 September.”
