Boity supports Totalsports Women’s Race and PinkDrive

NEWTOWN – TV personality and rapper Boitumelo Thulo affectionately known as Boity supports this year's Totalsports Women's Race and PinkDrive.

Actress and musician Boitumelo ‘Boity’ Thulo will perform at this year’s Totalsports Women’s Race to be held at Mary Fitzgerald Square, Newtown on 9 August in support of cancer non-profit organisation PinkDrive.

The 10km race will start at 8am and the 5km race starts at 8.15am.

Boity started her musical journey last year and said it would be an honour to perform for women at the event.

“Through music, I can get my message out to the public. I am a very casual runner. I try to get in a run whenever my schedule allows it. I admire the dedication regular runners have,” she said.

Boity added that the initiative was extremely important as she supported the empowerment of women.

“We all have loved ones and friends that have been affected by cancer. The runners can expect fun and a lot of energy. I will be performing my new single #OwnYourThrone which perfectly fits the theme of the event.”

An annual Women’s Day celebration, the event encourages athletes to run united in support of PinkDrive because they are #StrongerTogether.

For the first time since the event’s inception in 2001, South Africa’s largest Women’s Day celebration will be hosted on one day across three major cities, Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.

This year’s race prize purse boasts a whopping R123 600, a total of R41 200 per city.

Each entrant will receive a fitted event T-shirt, a Totalsports head scarf and a finisher’s bracelet while being treated to an entertaining route experience with refreshment points.

PinkDrive is committed to improving breast cancer awareness, education, and providing and offering free services to the medically uninsured across South Africa. It will be present at the event in all three cities offering free clinical breast examinations and educating on the importance of self-breast examinations.
