Map Games 2019 was a resounding success, says the ANLFA secretary general

ALEXANDRA -– The secretary general of the ANLFA Mafika Morajane says the association prides itself for having hosted an incident-free Map Games 2019.

The Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association (ANLFA) celebrated a milestone in that for the first time in more than a decade it hosted an incident-free Map Games 2019.

The ANLFA prides itself in this milestone achievement and it believes the measures that it put in place worked very well, said the secretary general Mafika Morajane in an interview with Alex News after the completion of one of the country’s biggest development tournaments.

He also took the opportunity to give a pat on the back to his officials who ensured the smooth running of the Map Games and congratulated the teams for allowing football to take precedence over squabbles that had characterised the games previously.

“We had a lot of detractors who thought we were not going to be able to pull it off but I am happy to say we did and hats off to all those involved for a job well done. Board members spent sleepless nights registering these players so the tournament would kick off without a glitch,” he said.

One of the major problems hindering the smooth running of the tournament previously was age cheating. This was avoided through the registration of all players who participated in the tournament and the rigorous checking of their ages to ensure there was zero instances of age-cheating.

Morajane thanked the Maimane Alexandra Development Foundation for believing in the local football body. “I am happy we managed to put our differences aside for the sake of football and hence the tournament was such an incident-free success.”
