ROSEBANK – Parktown old girl Alexis Rich finished third, narrowly missing qualification to the ICF World Marathon Championships.

Rosebank resident and Parktown old girl Alexis Rich finished third in the U18 women’s race at the South African Canoe Marathon Championships recently.

Rich qualified for the event after finishing first in the U18 women’s event at the Gauteng Canoe Union Marathon Championships.

The event took place at Cradle Moon Lake Resort from 15–17 June, bringing together paddlers from across South Africa.

The interprovincial race provided selection opportunities for the racers to represent South Africa at the ICF World Marathon Championships in China later this year.

Rich just missed out on her place at the world championships as only the first two finishers were considered for selection.
