Tigers maul LRC to reach final of the U13 division of Map Games

ALEXANDRA – Alex Royal Tigers are through to the final of the U13 Map Games 2019 after beating LRC FC 3-0.

The Maimane Alfred Phiri Games (Map Games) U13 ‘final before the final’ lived up to its expectations with thrilling football from the future stars of Bafana Bafana but unfortunately there had to be one winner which turned out to be Alex Royal Tigers.

The Tigers clawed their way to their third consecutive final of the junior Map Games after reigning supreme over their arch nemesis, Love Reaching Community (LRC) FC with a 3–0 win at the Number 3 Square Grounds.

They will now come face to face in the final with the past kings of Alex U13 football and the Map Games, Alex Real Madrid, on Youth Day (16 June) to be played at the same venue as the semis in what is expected to be a spectacle of a game.

Tigers will be hoping to regain their crown which they won last year at the expense of LRC while Real Madrid will be hoping to reclaim their status as the kings of U13 football in the township, a title they lost in the early 2000s when they were deposed by Malandela Mighty Heroes who no longer have a squad in that division.

Malandela disposed of all their players to Real Madrid as they looked to give more attention to their senior team which was promoted to the SAB League two seasons ago. They are now preoccupied with possible promotion to the third tier of football, the ABC Motsepe League and eventually the elite Premier Soccer League.

Tigers opened the scoring through the boot of Simanga Nkosi, who has a twin brother, Simangaliso, while the second goal was slotted into the back of the net by Sikhumbuzo Mashele, giving the big cats a 2–0 lead going into the second half.

The final nail into the LRC coffin was hammered in by Theto Mothlatji, as the Tigers cubs rounded off what became a successful hunt in their road to defend the trophy they won last year.

On the news of the Tigers securing a final berth against his team, Mocks Maseko, coach of Real Madrid U13s said he was ready for them after several years of his absence in the Map Games.

“I am going to win the final and send the message that the king is back. I have been out of this competition on a sabbatical for several years now, and I want everybody to know that I am back to reclaim my throne,” said a confident Maseko ahead of the final.
