Alex Royal Tigers SC winners of the Map Games 2018 finally take their trip

ALEXANDRA – Alex Royal Tigers on a weekend leadership skills trip to North West Province.

Alex Royal Tigers SC, who were the winners of the U13 and U15 divisions of the Maimane Alfred Phiri Games this year, finally went on their winners’ leadership skills camp trip to Konka Soul Adventure in the North West province.

The leadership skills camp was introduced in 2017 and has been running for the past two years as part of the package for the winners of the development tournament to learn more about life skills and team building.

Map Games partnered with Shelela Tours, a travel agency based in Alexandra, to give an opportunity for the winners to go this weekend. LRC FC and Alex Royal Tigers SC were the inaugural beneficiaries in 2017 when they respectively won the U13 and U15 age groups.

Last year the two met again in the U13 final and Tigers dislodged LRC to win that age group and the U15 team of Tigers successfully defended their championship of 2017.

Among the speakers at the camp will be Alex star footballer Lebogang Manyama of Kaizer Chiefs, former Chiefs player and now coach Caesar Maphalla of Bidvest Wits Academy and Map Games founder Maimane Phiri.

Tigers coach and club owner Thembinkosi ‘Tiger’ Matholengwe expressed his excitement about the camp. “I believe it’s a good thing to do, to give growth and self-importance in the life of an African child.”

Tiger has already put his head on the block and predicted that both his teams would defend their trophies come June when the tournament is held.

“We will definitely defend both age divisions again in 2019 as we believe these trophies and camp belong to AmaRoyals.”
