Jacoba Football Academy recruits players to boost squad

In their quest to beef up their squad, Jacoba Football Academy is inviting young talented soccer stars to their trials to be held on 12 and 13 January at Sandringham High School.

The trials are open to all aspiring young players, including girls, who wish to advance their soccer careers.

According to the organiser and academy’s chairman, Dimitri Athanasopoulos, the trials are free and no money will be charged to the players.

Athanasopoulos said they are looking for talented players who will help boost their squad and advance to top flight football. “Currently, the senior division of the team is sitting in third place in the 2018/19 SAFA SAB League and we are pushing for a promotion to the ABC Motsepe League, thus the trials,” he said.

“We invite all players who are interested. It does not matter which part of the country you come from but we want them to come through and showcase their talent to our experienced coaches.

“Players outside of the province don’t need to worry about accommodation, the academy has just bought a house to cater for such players.

“This is free as we want aspiring players to benefit from the game and grow as young sportsmen and women.

“We invite everyone including girls of all ages to come and join us because as Jacoba Academy we would like to aid the development of the game with boys and girls.”

The trials for junior teams for U9 to U17 will be held in February. Athanasopoulos said aspiring players can follow them on their social media site for more information.

He also added that the academy has an education centre where players can be facilitated by highly qualified teachers and can receive assistance with homework and exam preparations.

Interested players are requested to bring their full soccer gear, a certified copy of their ID and four ID photos, both colour and black and white.
