Tournament to raise funds for Fairsands FC

JOHANNESBURG – A special tournament will be held on 24 and 25 November to raise funds for Fairsands Football Club grounds.

The Fairsands Football Club will be hosting a special Top Eight Tournament to raise funds for their Belgrade field and facilities.

The tournament will be held on 24 and 25 November at the grounds. Facilitator for the tournament Sibonelo Sikakane said, “Currently the soccer field and facilities at Belgrade are in very poor condition, and there is no one designated person responsible for its upkeep.”

The Belgrade fields play host to several community teams including the Sandringham Ladies FC which give women between 20 and 71 the opportunity to play soccer and socialise through sport.

Sikakane said, “We feel that as part of the community we cannot allow the field to go unkept, and as people who benefit from the use of the field, we have come up with a Top Eight Tournament in a bid to raise funds to ensure that such an important part of the community is maintained.”

The day will see soccer team playing against each other with a number of prizes to be won.

Sikakane added that they are calling on businesses for sponsorship or donations which include prizes for a special raffles being run on the day, food for the team or monetary donations.

For more details on the tournament, community members can contact Sibonelo Sikakane on 061 605 7523.
