Norwood Young Stars football club seeks training ground

NORWOOD – Some of the grounds that they had identified were a distance away and it would be costly for the club.

The Norwood Young Stars football season is in turmoil as the club does not have anywhere to train.

The club’s owner Venita Masisi said this 2017/18 season had been the worst ever since the club’s establishment. And now due to construction at their training and home ground in Patterson Park, they were unable to train or host opponents.

“This has also resulted in us being relegated from the promotional South African Football Association’s league,” said Masisi.

“We are currently not playing and my boys are scattered everywhere because they have no team anymore.”

She added that the club comprises more than 60 players ranging between six and 17 years old.

Masisi said they approached Norwood Primary School to ask if the club could use their field but the school told them they had already leased it to another team.

She added that they now had to look elsewhere but some of the grounds that they had identified were a distance away and it would be costly for the club.

“Another thing we need to consider is the safety of these children because travelling outside our area could be dangerous and expensive.”

The club would appreciate any assistance in this regard.
