Ort SA to host the first-ever spinning-in-a-night-club fundraiser

ROSEBANK – The first-ever local spinathon fundraiser to be held in a nightclub will take place at the Harlem Nightclub.

Education and training non-profit organisation, Ort South Africa, and the Sage Foundation will join forces through their common goals of building opportunities for local communities to bring the first-ever charity nightclub Spinathon.

The event known as ORT2SPIN will take place on 21 June from 5pm until late at the Harem Nightclub in Rosebank and is set to raise funds for the children and youth who are supported at schools, clubs and other programmes, by Ort SA.

Elsa Storm, master spinning instructor, will be pushing spinners to their limits at this South African first. Popular DJs, Mark Stent, Vin Groovin, Rikay, Rocca and Martini, DNA and Hapoly will be bringing their beat to the party and for the riders.

Virgin Active is generously loaning 30 bikes for the one-night-only event and they are being transported, pro bono to the Harem Nightclub in Rosebank, by Heneways Freight Services.

Residents are urged to join the fun or challenge other riders or clubs to do more and at the same time giving back to a worthy cause.

“Fundraising for information and communication technology-related projects align with the key objectives of Sage Foundation. We’re excited at the prospect of working with an established NPO like Ort SA on this fundraiser,” Joanne van der Walt, promotions director of Sage Foundation said.

Ort SA has trained and empowered thousands of South Africans in business skills, cutting-edge teacher training in science, technology, engineering, maths (Stem), IT coding, as well as entrepreneurship through training and mentoring.

Helene Itzkin, Ort SA fundraising manager said, “This is going to be an incredible night. If you haven’t yet booked your bike, do it now!”
