Support Tom at this year’s Ann Harding Cheshire 5-a-side tournament at Old Parks

OLD PARKS – Make sure not to miss this awesome 5-a-side soccer tournament in aid of the residents at Ann Harding Cheshire Home.

The Ann Harding 5-a-side soccer tournament fundraiser on 27 April at Old Parktonians Club is looking to raise more money for the home than ever before.

The tournament raises money in support of the residents at Ann Harding Cheshire Home which serves as a place where the staff make it their mission to assist people with disabilities.

They provide the conditions necessary for the residents’ dignity, physical, mental and spiritual well-being regardless of their colour, race or creed. The world-class care and facilities provided costs each resident an average of R120 000 annually. This means there is a struggle for many of the residents to afford the cost.

Resident Tom Sundawo is the brainchild of this tournament. In 2007, when Sundawo was a manager at the Dros, he was shot in the head during an armed robbery at the restaurant. The bullet damaged the motor neurone part of his brain and he is wheelchair-bound and has minimal functionality of his body.

The one-day tournament has been played at Old Parktonian Sports Club since 2013 and has played an enormous role in collecting money to aid all 38 residents in their recovery processes.

The tournament promises to have excellent entertainment including a DJ, snacks and refreshments. It will start bright and early at 9am with super exciting football action until 4pm.
