Top monthly PSL honours for Ramagalela and Jelusic
PARKTOWN – The PSL name the top player and coach for the month of October.
The Absa Premiership’s best coach and player of the month for October were named at the Premier Soccer League (PSL) offices in Parktown on 9 November.
Bloemfontein Celtic head coach, Veselin Jelusic was named Coach of the Month, while Polokwane City forward and former Black Leopards star, Rodney Ramagalela, did the double by scooping both the Goal of the Month (August/September) and Player of the Month awards.
Ramagalela received due credit for his stunningly-taken chipped goal during his team’s 2–1 away win over Mamelodi Sundowns back in August, as well as his appetite for always creating scoring chances for his team. The season so far has seen him neutralize opposition defenders when playing as a forward or on the wing.
The striker emerged victorious in the Player of the Month category ahead of Sandile Zuke of Chippa United, Thabo Qalinge of Orlando Pirates, Siphiwe Tshabalala of Kaizer Chiefs and the Baroka FC duo of Gift Motupa and Sipho Moeti.
Ramagalela scored three goals and provided two assists for his team during this period. He currently sits atop the league’s goal scoring charts.
Bloemfontein Celtic head coach, Veselin Jelusic, in his first season in charge, was awarded top coach ahead of Baroka FC, Free State Stars and Chippa United coaches, Kgoloko Thobejane, Luc Eymael and Tebogo Moloi, respectively.
During the block of fixtures played from 23 September to 31 October, Celtic picked up 10 points in the club’s five games. Jelusic guided his side to home and away victories over reigning Absa Premiership champions Bidvest Wits, Cape Town City, Chippa United and Maritzburg United, while only coming up short against Ajax Cape Town. His team only conceded once during this spell.
