Ross Booyse (18) lifts weights for South Africa and trains at the School of Strength gym in Hurlingham five times a week despite a busy time of year as he is doing matric.
The Fourways resident who attends St Stithians Boys’ College in Lyme Park can snatch 83kg and lift a total 183kg.
He represented South Africa at the African Youth/Junior Weightlifting Championships in Uganda in October, in the 62kg youth division, where he finished fifth out for 12 competitors.
