Old Eds cricket was also awarded the Fair Play trophy which is in recognition of the spirit and approach to the game on the field and the cherry on the top was when Old Eds was awarded the Club of the Year.

Individual awards went to Devon Conway who was awarded the Gauteng Strikers Batsman of the Year and Mitchell van Buuren the Gauteng U19 Player of the Year.

“This is a massive honour for the club and kudos go to the chairman, Mark Patterson, his committee, the captains of all the teams and all the players who had represented the society during the season,” said Mike Dunk, communication officer for Old Eds.

Dunk added that the Premier League team had been promoted to the A section of the league.

“With the mixture of experienced players plus the younger ones who joined the club in the past season, together with potentially more players joining, the future looks bright for the club.”
