JWBS to host annual Golf Day

KILLARNEY – The event is to raise funds for the needy and potential students.

The Jewish Women’s Benevolent Society (JWBS) will host its 45th annual Golf Day at the Killarney Golf Club on 10 May, which will be held to raise funds for the needy and support those who aspire to further their studies at tertiary level.

Belle Katz, one of the organisers, said the society has been in existence for 124 years and they are a charity organisation. Katz said they have held their annual Golf Day for the past 45 years with an aim to support the less fortunate in the community.

“We hope to raise in the vicinity of R150 000. The money we raise goes to supporting members of our community both young and old with food, clothing and shelter, as well as remedial and tertiary education,” said Katz who added that each golfer receives a prize, refreshment when they arrive, food at a halfway house and a dinner at the culmination of the event.

At this stage, Katz said they need more golfers to participate at R900 per golfer or R3 600 per four-ball. She said, “We also need sponsors to sponsor a hole at R3 000 or R5 000.”

According to the organisers, each amount, of either R3 000 or R5 000 entitles you to sponsor a tee, a green and display your company’s banners.
