Alex hopes to dominate inter-LFA games

JOBURG – The arrival of Alex Black Aces will make the Alex LFA stronger in the inter-LFA tournaments.

The secretary-general of the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association (LFA), Mafika Morajane believes the association will be a force to be reckoned with in the inter-LFA tournaments following the arrival of the Alex Black Aces Academy.

The Linksfield-based Aces is now an affiliate of the Alex LFA, a move which has brought in a pool of talented players, some of whom have been at the academy for many years and have grown in leaps and bounds in their football careers.

Aces joined the Alex LFA soon after selling its Premier Soccer League status in the Absa Premiership to newly formed Cape Town City FC just before the start of the current premiership season in August last year.

Soon after the affiliation, Aces announced and embarked on a bold move to develop the standard of football in Alexandra. This started with a coaches’ programme and tournament for U13, U15, U17 and U20 teams of the academy which played against select squads of the association.

An impressed Morajane could hardly hide his delight at the talent that was on display at the tournament. “We can’t wait for the inter-LFA games so we can proudly parade our talent,” Morajane said.

“With what I saw on Saturday [11 February], I am certain we shall walk all over our opponents in the inter-LFA games. Aces are bringing with them seasoned academy players from a fully-fledged academy and that will auger well for our ambitions to be a perpetually domineering figure in those games.

“We will now cast our net much wider in our selection of the best players and cream of the crop to do the job for us in the inter-LFA games. Besides, we shall now, for the first time, be a truly rainbow LFA and I am proud of that.”
