The bizhub Highveld Lions failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the Ram Slam T20 challenge despite beating the Chevrolet Warriors by 21 runs on 08 December at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium.
The bizhub Highveld Lions failed to qualify for the semifinals of the Ram Slam T20 challenge despite beating the Chevrolet Warriors by 21 runs at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium.
The Lions batted first and posted a below par score of 127 in 20 overs and it looked to be an easy target to chase for the Warriors.
The visitors needed to reach the total in 16 overs to up their net run rate and stand any chance of qualifying for the next stage. With the Warriors needing 128 for victory, Lions spinner Eddie Leie, who has been in great form throughout the tournament, had other ideas as he ripped through the Warriors batting order taking 4/32.

The run chase was a nightmare for the Eastern Cape outfit as they lost five wickets with only 34 runs on the scoreboard after eight overs. The Warriors were bowled out for 106 in 17 overs.
With the Lions having already failed to qualify after losing to the Cape Cobras in their previous game, they did not have any pressure and had their pride at stake to play for.
The Warriors came into the game needing a victory to guarantee them a place in the semifinals against the Sunfoil Dolphins but the cricket gods had other ideas.
