Junior paddler comes in third place
EMMERENTIA - CRAIGHALL Park resident Caitlyn Evans participated in the canoe sprint lane races at Germiston Lake.
The event was hosted by the Victoria Lake Canoe Club and had more than 100 junior paddlers participating.
The competition included an intimidating 1000m sprint, a 500m race and a shorter 200m dash.
Evans won a third place medal in the U10 girls category. This was her first canoe race and she enjoyed the experience thoroughly.
The event is one of many regular races attended by junior paddlers ahead of the South African Schools Interprovincial and Interschool competition.
Evans is looking forward to participating in the interprovincial competition due to take place at Roodeplaat from 30 April to 2 May.
