Highlands Park Football Club calls for registration

HIGHLANDS - Highlands Park Football Club, one of the oldest clubs in Johannesburg, welcomes parents and players old and new to a much-anticipated new season.

Registration for this year’s teams will take place at Gemill Park on 25 January between 9am and 12pm. All age groups between U6 and U19 are welcome, and Shabbat teams will be available for players in age groups between U6 and U8. Parents and players are warned that the league starts early this year, and early registration is essential.

The club had a highly successful season last year, with the first team being promoted to the National First Division.

A previous article in the North Eastern Tribune (Highlands Park FC promoted to National First Division, week ending 9 January) incorrectly named former member Martin Cohen as the club’s sponsor. However, Cohen has been replaced by sponsors in the form of Hatfield Volkswagen, among others.

The club’s junior team is run by Judit Sassu and Debbie Ilouze, while the seniors are co-chaired by Larry Brookstone and Brad Kaftel.

“We do it for the love of community and keeping kids on the sports field,” said Sassu, anticipating another successful year for the long-running club.

Details: Debbie Ilouze 082 560 9830.
