Get ready for Jozi Urban Mountain Bike Adventure

EMMARENTIA – The Hollard JUMA, Joburg’s urban mountain bike race takes place at Marks Park on 12 October.

The route consists of a novice 22km and a 52km for seasoned cyclists, and will take the participants into adventurous sections including the Braamfontein Spruit area, a 700m underground tunnel near Zoo Lake, a route around storm water drains and under Grayston Drive. Cyclists will ride through sections of the Botanical Gardens and on the outskirts of the Melville Koppies.

In conjunction with the Soweto Canoe and Recreation Club and the Adreach Foundation, marketing agency BAM has arranged to sponsor numerous bicycles to underprivileged youth throughout Gauteng ahead of the race.

Youth of the canoe club who have been part of a fitness development programme based at Emmarentia dam, were presented with their mountain bikes recognising criteria such as commitment and effort, as well as improvement in school work.
