Bowling for a good cause

KILLARNEY – The 51st annual Selwyn Segal Bowls Day was held at the Killarney Country Club’s Bowls as a mixed fours tournament.

The organising committee indicated that the amount raised would exceed R350 000.

The Selwyn Segal Society for the Jewish Handicapped is home to more than 100 mentally disabled adults and children of all ages, and the contribution from this annual event offers some degree of relief from ever increasing costs.

The theme this year was ‘multi colours’ and was carried through to players’ dress as well as the décor in the club’s Crystal Room during lunch and after-game cocktails.

With 44 teams of four players from seven different bowls clubs participating in the tournament, including a team of six physically disabled players, friendly competition was always evident.
