Old Eds cricketers glean awards at end of season Gauteng dinner

JOBURG – A number of the Old Eds Premier league team players were acknowledged at the Gauteng Cricket Board awards dinner.

Although the team only won one trophy in the past season, the Premier Time Competition, their players excelled throughout the season.

  •  Quinton de Kock was acclaimed Gauteng Cricketer of the Year
  •  Stephen Cook was voted the Gauteng Lions Batsman of the Year
  •  Devon Conway was voted the Gauteng Strikers Batsman of the Year.
  •  The Gauteng U19 team, captained by Yaseen Valli, was voted the Cub Team of the Year.
  •  De Kock, Cook and Valli were given International Recognition Awards.

Old Edwardian Society communications officer Mike Dunk said, “For so many of our members to have received these accolades speaks volumes for the quality of players that we have within the society.

“The Premier League team has continued to win at least one major trophy each season for a number of years now, and our aim next season would be to win the Gauteng Premier League title which would see the team represent the province in the National Club competition once again.”
