Easter Rugby Festival – Day 2

The St John’s College 19th Easter Rugby Festival is underway with the school hosting 12 participating schools.

The tournament kicked off on Thursday, 17 March and saw six Preparatory and High schools battling it out to win.

The preparatory schools games saw Orchards Primary School losing 15-37 to WHPS Primary School.

St Stithians won 43 – 21 after locking horns with Maragon.

St John’s played against St Charles and won 38 -3.

Pridwin won 38 – 36 against Clifton.

St Benedict’s lost 3 – 16 when they played against St Peters.

In the high schools matches Hoerskool Nelspruit triumphed over St John’s with a 29 – 20 score.

Jeppe High School for Boys won 28 – 0 when they played against Hoerskool Noordheuwel.

Pretoria Boys High School won 12 – 24 against The Scots College (Australia).

Hoerskool Waterkloof was victorious when they played against Klein Nedeburg. The score for the game was 45 – 19.

Pupils, players and rugby lovers have descended to the school to witness the festival.

Asked who her favourite team was, Linda van Wyk (14) said she just enjoyed watching her big brother playing ball and did not have a specific favourite. “I just love this time of the year at St John’s because the rugby season is always exciting,” she said.

Meanwhile, up the road, neighbouring school, King Edwards College also hosted their annual rugby festival.

The festivals will run until Monday, 21 April.
