Old Eds hockey to play in the Super Cup
HOUGHTON - After finishing third in the hockey Premier league last season, Old Eds is one of six teams that will contest the Super Cup at the Randburg Astro Stadium on 14 and 15 March.
The competition sponsored by Deloitte, is worth R10 000 in a winner-takes-all knock-out format.
Old Eds will play their first match on Friday, 14 March against Crusaders with an 8pm start. The outcome of that match will determine when and who they play on Saturday morning.
The other teams competing are Jeppe, Wits A-team, Wanderers A-team and UJ A-team. These are the teams that finished in the top six of last season’s league.
The competition is expected to be tough, with Wanderers starting as the favourites.
The top six ladies teams will also be competing and they are Jeppe Saint Andrews, Pirates, Wanderers, UJ, Crusaders and Wits.
