The team for Sofia will depart on 3 November and returns on 10 November. “We are desperately trying to raise funds to send this extremely talented gymnast to compete in the World Championships, but regretfully, the federation has no funding and cannot contribute to his costs, and the Department of Sport and SASCOC are not keen to make any contribution,” said Helen van der Walt, programme manager of the South African Gymnastics Federation.
“It will be sad if one of our most talented gymnasts has to stay home due to a lack of funds,” she said. Van der Walt added that any contributions towards Xolani’s costs would be appreciated. The Alexandra Trampoline Club practices at the Thusong Youth Centre at the corner of 12th Avenue and Josias Madzunya Street.
