DP World Lions Cricket team is ready for the 2024/25 season

DP World Lions Cricket teams launch new kits for their one-day, four-day series and T20 matches.

Blue, yellow, and gold dominated the DP World Wanderers Stadium on August 12 for the Lions Cricket 2024/25 season launch.

Showcasing the season that was and the celebration of wins and victories, much excitement was added with the players flaunting their new kit.

DP World Lion’s marketing manager Lebohang Mokgethwa talked about the new cricket kit and said it embodied the Lions’ history through its designs and colours.

Lions Cricket CEO Jono Leaf-Wright said, “As Lions Cricket, we are not only about producing great cricket players on the field but off the field as well. We aim to produce people capable of impacting people’s lives and communities and ensure that we keep building together as a province and country.”

He added their domestic season kicked off on September 27 at the Wanderers Stadium against the Titans in what would undoubtedly be another exciting derby clash. The franchise’s women’s and men’s head coaches, Shaun Pretorius and Russell Domingo respectively said their teams were ready to take on the new season.

The head of corporate affairs and sustainability sub-Saharan Africa at DP World, Esha Mansingh added as sponsors it had been a special five years with Lions Cricket.

“Today has been a special celebration and a culmination for us in what has been an exceptional journey with the Lions family. What I’ve heard coming across today is ‘partnership’, ‘family’, and ‘communities’, it is such a special time to be part of this journey because it is so much more than the sport or the stadium but it’s always about Lions Cricket and the work they do on and off the field.”

She concluded, “The reason we came on board was the joint purpose that we had with Lions Cricket, which was about connecting Africa and communities through sports.”
