A mean Mighty Heroes means business

BALFOUR PARK -– Malandela Mighty Heroes has this year set itself the task of climbing the football ladder as it embarks on its arduous journey to finally play in the prestigious Premier Soccer League.

Co-director and chairperson of Malandela Mighty Heroes FC Simon Dlamini has warned teams in the SAB League to watch out for his mean Mighty Heroes team as this season they mean business.

He was speaking in an interview with Alex News at the U17 team’s new jersey unveiling at the Fives Futbol arena on the rooftop of the Balfour Park Mall.

Mighty Heroes, who finished fifth on the log in their maiden season last year after winning the now defunct Safa Promotional League, have set themselves goals this season.

“We are more than determined this season to clinch the championship and win promotion to the ABC Motsepe League on our arduous journey to the Premier Soccer League,” Dlamini said during the jersey launch which included a festival of several five-a-side football games between the U17 team and candidate lawyers of their sponsor, Bowmans, a corporate and commercial law firm in Sandhurst, Sandton,

With the calibre of players in the current squad, Dlamini, an industrial engineer who owns Malandela Industrial Engineers, said the team was destined to go places. “I am certain this is the beginning of bright things to come in our arduous journey to the Premier Soccer League and this journey begins with this team.”

But team coach Vincent ‘Young Master’ Rammoni (25) was guarded in his response to whether this was the team to take the club to another level in their quest for premiership football. “We in all honestly want to move a rung up the football ladder but all that is dependent on a number of factors some of which may not be within our control.

“I want to believe I have assembled one of the best sides ever who can do the job for us but I always want to take new ventures and challenges as a learning curve and a chance to implement my ideas. If the players can perform as per instructions, I am confident we can make our fans happy.

“We will put all our resources towards that mission,” said Rammoni, who’s also known by the nickname, ‘Pep Guardiola’ after the Manchester City coach. “To achieve all this, we all need to put in a lot of extra hard work. I have no doubt the team I have assembled is the team that every coach wants.”

Rammoni added that he would be forever grateful to the players who have moved on as they were the crop of stars that got the team to where they are. “I am one person who does not believe in luck but only hard work does it for me.”
