JP Morgan Corporate Challenge sees runners enjoying suburbs of Johannesburg

ILLOVO – Find out how the 14th annual JP Morgan Corporate Challenge went here.

The 14th annual JP Morgan Corporate Challenge attracted more than 13 000 runners and walkers from 268 companies for a 5.6km route around the Wanderers Club on 30 March.

The challenge sets the pace with corporate health enthusiasts participating in the running event.

Promoting a healthy work-life balance and a sense of camaraderie among the business community, the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge is known as the healthiest and largest after work employee event in the world and saw participants enjoying a beautiful Johannesburg autumn evening through the city’s leafy northern suburbs.

While the novices went on a fulfilling run around the neighbourhood, the serious athletes got down to business to cross the line with a podium finish.

Participating teams consisted of a minimum of four employees from all types of companies, big and small. Runners could not enter as individuals.

Representing Sibanye Gold, Coolboy Ngamole was the first man to cross the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge finish line in a time of 18:10:00.

Representing the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa, Tebogo Masehla was the first woman to cross the line with a time of 22:46:00.

JP Morgan made a donation in celebration of all participants to the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation South Africa for the fourth consecutive year.

The 10 largest companies which participated in this year’s event were spearheaded by Investec followed by Standard Bank, Liberty, KPMG, Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Dimension Data, Ernst and Young, Smollan and TC Corporate Support.

The race also attracted South African sporting and entertainment celebrities such as Poppy Ntshongwana, Lucas Radebe, and Matthew and Sonia Booth showing their support for the participants.

Participants were treated to an exclusive post-match performance by GoodLuck, South Africa’s most exciting live electronic band and enjoyed networking in a fun and relaxed environment.
