Parkview father and son share golf achievement

PARKVIEW – The golf club has their first father-and-son champions.

Parkview golfer Dan Barnard clinched the 2017 club championship by one shot recently to emulate the achievement of his father Lee, in 2010. “I’m thrilled to have achieved what my old man did a few years back,” commented Dan.

They are the Parkview Golf Club’s first father-and-son champions. Dan finished the 18th hole with a birdie three to beat Wian de Wet. Playing off a three handicap, he posted two three-over-par rounds of 75 and had been three behind the lead with just one hole to play.

“I played cricket for South Africa and Currie Cup rugby for both Transvaal and Northern Transvaal, but Dan’s win was the highlight of my sporting career,” said proud father Lee.

Dan, who lives in Craighall, recently completed a year as a caddie in the United States and has just begun a career in investment banking.
