Have your say … #IEC elections

ROSEBANK – Do you think voting is important?

The nation of South Africa awaits elections in the next few months and the Rosebank Killarney Gazette asked residents to share their opinions on why they think it is important to vote.

*On January 16, 2019 in a vox populi contribution titled “Have your say…#IEC elections” published on www.rosebankkillarneygazette.co.za, a photograph depicting Tshililo Ramutovholwa was accidentally placed with a quote attributed to Juliet Sibeko.

Ramutovholwa was not interviewed for this vox pop segment and her photograph was erroneously used by www.rosebankkillarneygazette.co.za

The website apologises and retracts Ramutovholwa’s image.

The correct photograph of Sibeko now accompanies her comment below.

JULIET SIBEKO: Voting is important because it is effective in the communities unlike the national level where the same party keeps remaining in power yet does not deliver.

TENDAI SIBANDA: Voting is important because if people vote in their numbers parties will be obliged to fullfil the manifestos. In fact there should be a system to check if people looking for employment or services voted.
SHAUN : If you don’t vote there’s no change so voting encourages our leaders to step up and serve the people.
NTSAKO BALOYI: It’s not important because it only benefits the political parties as they never deliver on their promises but only seek for people’s votes.
LEBOGANG MTHEMBU: There’s really no difference whether one votes or not, those serving their interests will still remain in power.
ANDY PURDON: It’s important to vote because no change can be achieved if you don’t vote.
SISCO NDOU: There’s no point in voting as it only serves to benefit our selfish leaders and does not benefit us as the community, so voting makes no difference.
