Pray for rain, pray for people too

MIDRAND – We need the rain, but flash floods bring so much damage.

Sibongile Cele writes:
I recall how we prayed at church for the past few months for rain, but the way it has rained in the past few days has left me conflicted.
We need rain, that’s a fact, and the water problems we have been having will not go away without heavy rains.
However, on the other side of the coin, there are people who live in informal settlements [not by choice] and even a little bit of rain means most of their belongings will be wet and they will have to sleep in a wet place. The thought that people may drown in flash floods because their homes cannot stand against the fury of the rain is scary and heartbreaking.
As we pray for rain, let us pray for lives not to be lost in the abundance of rain, for families to have a safe place to stay as our dams fill up.
