LETTER: Car guards at Balfour Park Shopping Mall have their daily fee reduced

JOBURG - Balfour Park's car guards no longer have to pay a daily fee of R70 to the management; it has now been reduced to a daily fee of R35 which is certainly a big help to them, but is still unfair.

Olga-May Musnitzky, a Glenhazel resident, writes:

Well done to the North Eastern Tribune for highlighting the unfortunate plight of the car guards at Balfour Park Shopping Mall.

It is thanks to this exposure that the Balfour Park’s car guards no longer have to pay a daily fee of R70 to the management; it has now been reduced to a daily fee of R35 which is certainly a big help to them, but is still unfair.

The Norwood Shopping Mall management can perhaps then explain why their car guards have to pay a daily fee of R45 because these car guards are poor, innocent people trying to make ends meet and they are clearly being exploited by management and people in positions of power.

This is appalling and is a clear example of the corruption so sadly evident in our country.

Well done to the North Eastern Tribune for exposing some of this exploitation and for making a difference to the lives of some of these car guards.
