Letter to the editor: JRA app a waste of money

CraigPark resident Mack Rogan writes:

I sit on the CraigPark Residents Association and look after the infrastructure portfolio.

As such, I deal a lot with the Johannesburg Roads Agency .

I was interested to see that Skhumbuzo Macazoma has introduced a hi-tech system for reporting problems such as potholes to the agency – the find and fix app is supposed to improve the service.

To me this is money ill spent and a waste.

The problem with the infrastructure is not the reporting of problems, but in getting the problems fixed.

The residents of Craigpark are very vigilant and good about reporting problems on the agency’s hotline – the problem is that the agency are unable to respond to these complaints.

From my point of view if the roads agency could not fix the problems reported to them through their own hotline, they will equally not be able to respond to complaints sent on the find and fix app.

It seems to me like money misspent.
