The final episode, but the struggle continues

PRESIDENT Jacob Zuma has never read this column.

Neither has disgraced former Communications Minister Dina Pule, the maverick Julius Malema, or every ANC politician whos ever headed the Transport Ministry.

Our good friend, former Johannesburg Mayor Amos Masondo, certainly does not have tear-sheets nor print-outs of this page in his memoirs of his time as the first citizen of the golden city.

Joining him is good boy gone bad, Mr Loose Pants Zwelinzima Vavi. He was a darling for his role in labour union federation Cosatu, and opposing e-tolling until his loose pants got the better of him.

SA National Roads Agency Limited boss Nazir Ali will never know how he was named in this column for stubbornly forging ahead with governments mandate to implement e-tolling.

But there have been heroes, with Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance leader Wayne Duvenage topping that list.

DA Gauteng Premier candidate Mmusi Maimane is also respected; he promised to scrap e-tolling should he win the 2014 general election.

He is in the company of Johannesburg Mayor Parks Tau, who has calmed the municipal administration since he replaced Masondo.

It is time to move on, and this is my final editorial comment for this publication. But the struggle continues.

Do your part by making e-tolling unmanageable and voting out a government that does not deliver. You are proudly South African and deserve better, always.

Farewell Joburg.
