THE Metro police response by Superintendent Edna Mamonyane to the story titled, Parking spat with cops lands businessman in jail, confirms the public perception that the officers have no sensitivity towards the very people they are employed to protect.

In any well-run organisation, misbehaviour by staff members will be investigated without delay.

If found to be well-founded, appropriate steps will be taken without delay. No excuses made about wrong channels used for lodging complaints.

In the instance of the very public altercation with Rech Rodolfo (the businessman), the display of intolerance and intimidation as shown on Facebook proves how incompetent the Metro public relations division is and how Metro authority and goodwill is destroyed by the lack of remedial action by the management. They are doing irreparable damage to their image in the process.

Why do the police require an official complaint by specifically Rodolfo and him only before they take appropriate action?

This is sheer arrant nonsense! As a member of the tax-paying public I have the right to lodge a complaint and I have the right to expect prompt attention to the matter. Now I am merely filled with fear and disgust to think that these armed louts are the people who are supposed to tend to my physical welfare.
