Young theatre performers at Greenside High scoop awards

The young theatre performers at Greenside High School collected awards which include, trophies, gold certificated and diplomas from three major competitions.

Greenside High School participated in three major theatre performance competitions. These competitions are the Festival for Excellence in Dramatic Arts (FEDA), Edenvale Amateur Drama Society’s (EADS) One Act Plays Festival, and The National Eisteddfod Academy.

Teacher Leandi van Zyl and Tlotlo Olifant with Tshiamo Moeng, Sashni Naidoo and Nyeleti Marhenele celebrate After Us, which won best choreography.

Grade 8 and 9 Afrikaans educator, Leandi van Zyl explained that FEDA’s objective is to provide a safe and celebratory platform for young artists and theatre makers to produce, direct and create cutting-edge theatre.

EADS nominations included the following productions;

For the FEDA nominations, Greenside High School was rated in the top 15 of all participating schools.

The Greenside High School theatre performers at the Edenvale Amateur Drama Society’s One Act Plays Festival.

The following productions were nominated:

Tshiamo Moeng and Sashimi Naidoo scoop the Brett Golden Award for most inspirational production.

National Eisteddfod Academy
Inxeba Lomphilisi and Antigone Repertoire were awarded gold certificates and BBB and After Us won the highest honours with diplomas.

“Greenside High is well known for their innovative and groundbreaking theatre and these results once again prove their prowess in the artistic domain,” said van Zyl.
