REEA Foundation thanks company for generosity

Anvil Property Management in Illovo brought a sense of joy to REEA Foundation residents through their generosity.

The REEA Foundation is grateful to Anvil Property Management for their generosity as the foundation’s residents continue their shredding project.

Upon visiting the foundation in Craighall Park on September 7, the Gazette found the residents keenly preoccupied with the project which began in March.

A social worker at the foundation, Elinor Demetrio said the property company based in Illovo had visited REEA on Mandela Day.

The company spoilt the residents with gift pack toiletries, and pizzas and cold drinks were donated by Andiccio24.

Explaining the shredding project Demetrio said, “So they [Anvil] referred an auditing company to us and they brought us a whole lot of paper and we shred it and issue them a certificate of destruction. We are not charging for this but we are asking for a donation and depending on the amount donated, we will issue you an 18A certificate.”

She added the project had given the residents a lot of joy as they loved sorting out paper and removing staples. They also separated colour documents from black and white ones. “It’s something that has no pressure but they [residents] work nicely. I am hoping that this will now grow to other corporates. So this is an income-generating project for us. It has given them a purpose, joy, and new meaning. They have fun, they stand on the bags to compress the paper.”

In their thank-you letter to Anvil, REEA said their presence and generosity brought joy and nourishment to the individuals the foundation cared for and had made a tangible difference in their lives.

“Your positive attitude and kindness are a shining example of how businesses can contribute to creating a better and more equitable society.”
