Violent crimes on the rise in northern suburbs

Suburbs such as Houghton, Norwood, Oaklands, Killarney and more have reportedly seen an increase in violent crimes.

Crime is a pervasive issue that affects communities across the globe. In Johannesburg, crime rates have been a cause for concern. As a security company operating in Joburg, Vision Tactical plays a crucial role in mitigating crime and ensuring the safety of residents in precincts, such as Houghton, Norwood, Oaklands, Killarney and Rosebank and surrounding areas.

Director at Vision Tactical Yaseen Theba said analyzing crime trends in these suburbs reveals several patterns. While theft and burglaries remain prevalent, there has been an increase in violent crimes, such as robberies, kidnappings, murder and assaults.

Theba said criminals often target homes, businesses, and unsuspecting individuals on the streets, causing a sense of unease within the community. Moreover, the suburbs are not immune to other criminal activities like drug-related offences and vehicle hijackings, which continue to pose significant threats to the safety and well-being of residents.

Vision Tactical’s proactive approach to crime prevention helps to address these challenges. “Our presence deters potential criminals and ensures a rapid response to any security concerns. By employing highly trained professionals and utilising state-of-the-art technology, Vision Tactical effectively combats crime and provides a sense of security for residents in the patrolled areas,” said Theba.

He added that they firmly believe that by staying one step ahead of potential threats, they can create a safer and more secure environment for all. “Our approach to security is assertive and uncompromising. That is why our team tirelessly works to anticipate threats and develop innovative solutions to counter them.”

One of the key technologies that Vision Tactical employs is licence plate recognition cameras.

  • Additionally, they utilise cutting-edge CCTV and analytical technology specifically designed for open spaces.
  • They have incorporated the usage of drones into their security arsenal.
  • They continuously invest in training and development programmes for their personnel, ensuring that they possess the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively protect clients.
  • The Vision Tactical Plus digitally enhanced mobile app linked to the Vision Tactical control room provides clients with an all-in-one safety and security solution at their fingertips.

“However, combating crime should not solely be the responsibility of security companies; it requires a collective effort from the community, law enforcement agencies, and local authorities. Through community engagement initiatives, awareness campaigns, and collaboration with law enforcement, Vision Tactical encourages residents to be vigilant and implement preventative measures,” concluded Theba.
