The Florida Lake Canoe Club hosted a flat water marathon

Jacobs was recently named the Male Paddler of the Year at the Gauteng Sports Awards.

A Craighall Park and Parkhurst resident won the 20km flat water marathon at the Florida Lake Canoe Club on August 19.

Craighall’s Wayne Jacobs teamed up with Bradley Boulle to win the race in 01:25:00. Jacobs was recently named the Male Paddler of the Year at the Gauteng Sports Awards.

Local youngsters, Bruno Cochrane and Luke Salmon finished two seconds behind them as the first U18 team home.

The marathon included a 6km race for ‘guppies’ (U8–U12 age group paddlers), a 10km course for the less fit and newer paddlers, and a 20km race for the stronger, fitter and more energetic.
